suggestions?
I am writing an article on ddung for Doll Reader magazine. I want to link to an English language Ddung forum but couldn't find one that was active. I quickly created this one. Do you have suggestions for improvement? Thanks!
Re: suggestions?
Perhaps have a "Ddung info" sticky and include "where to buy" recommendation so newbies and fans can avoid the fakies that pop up around the net?
THANK YOU FOR THE NEW FORUM!

Re: suggestions?
Ddung info sticky is an excellent idea. I will set that up later tonight.
As to where to buy - links welcome! The "official" North American site was selling fakies as well as authentic ddung (isn't that awful?), so they are no longer the official site.
I actually asked ddung whether they might sell me a dozen or so dolls at a discount to sell on the forum. I'm guessing they'll say no, but we'll see.

Re: suggestions?
Ohmygosh, that is awful! Is that the site that is based in Canada?
One technical suggestion: when I went to post an introduction, I originally had the very boring "Hello!" as a title, but I got a message saying that post titles must be at least 10 characters long. I really had to think about how to reach that lower limit! I think that's a bit high compared to other forums, maybe we should lower it?
EDIT
Another suggestion: I posted a topic asking about a specific doll I saw, but perhaps a guide to telling real Ddungs apart from fakies would be useful? Before I purchased a Ddung doll I did some research and found a bit of information, but it was widely scattered and spotty at best. An illustrated list of known fakies, plus information about what sets real Ddung dolls apart, might be very helpful to new and experienced collectors alike!

Re: suggestions?
I would love a pictionary type of thread with all the different ddung dolls and I think Bohemian's suggestion of some ways to tell the bootleg ones from the real deal would be very much appreciated, especially by newbies like me.

Yes, the site that is in Canada. I have managed to change the default title length to five characters.

Re: suggestions?
There is a Lalaloopsy forum that has a fun ongoing event every month that might be fun to try on this forum, too. Every month they have a new photo contest that has a specific theme. For example, one month the theme might be "Stuffed Animals." The participants then have to submit a photo of their doll next to a stuffed animal of some sort. All the photos would be posted to the same thread (the contest thread). I just thought this was a cute idea. This forum might be too small at the moment to do this right now, but as the forum grows, it could be fun.

Re: suggestions?
That is a great idea, if we can get enough participation. The Dal House Forum (http://thedalhouse.forumactif.org/) does this, and the winner is used as the forum banner the next month!
Re: suggestions?
I also thought we could do something like "The Dal of the Month" contest here too. Just yesterday I was planning to tell you, TrueFan, that since we are not so many here, we could try stating with a seasonal contest, instead of a monthly one. What do you think?

That's a fine idea. Do you want to make a thread for a "spring" photo contest?applecandy wrote:I also thought we could do something like "The Dal of the Month" contest here too. Re: suggestions?
That's ok! I also offer myself to edit the pictures and make the banners, if necessary.

I think the photo contests for each season sounds like a great idea. It would be a lot of fun to see what ideas other forum members would come up with for their photos ^.^

Re: suggestions?
What about a subforum/thread for crafts related to ddung dolls? I actually just made a basic dress pattern I want to share but I'm not sure where to put it.

It seems a good idea!
And forgive me about the banner contest, I had been quite busy and time went by... I'll try to arrange it in the next days!
